College degree, CHECK!

Hey, everyone. I'm BACK!

Hopefully I did not forever lose both of my readers by taking a two week break from my blog. I had a very stressful, homework-filled time, beginning around Thanksgiving and going up through Friday, December 9th. I got this idea that it would be nice to pass my classes, the last two needed for my degree. (I'm actually pretty conventional on things like this.) It seemed the only way that would happen was if I finished all my assignments. So that's what I've been occupied with lately, but now... I'm all done! Walked in the commencement, wore the cap and gown, got the dipoma (actually just a diploma cover, but they promised to send me the real thing).

It's been a long journey (six years), and often difficult, but also enriching. Now I'm looking forward to getting some sleep, catching up with my family, and rediscovering some of the hobbies I used to enjoy. Most of all, I'm looking forward to NOT spending hours upon hours in class and on homework.

I'll post some pictures later, and perhaps some reflections on Weber State University, my degree, and what I've learned in the past six years. For now, please check out The Bozo List, which I've just updated. (You have to scroll down, because the list is getting pretty long.)

  1. I'm so proud of you! Congratulations! That is awesome! What a wonderful accomplishment!
And I'm still stickin' around. You couldn't drag me away, my friend. :-)

  2. Another thing to cross off your list.
    Congratulations, way to go!

So from the clip, can we infer that you're a doctor now?
And now what are you going to do with your degree?

  3. Congrats! That's awesome. What an accomplishment! All the while working, family, blogging! Impressive.

Although this whole idea of needing to do homework to graduate is new to me. Maybe I should try that! :)

  4. Well, judging from the comments here, I would say that you have at least FIVE readers, which could easily be rounded up so that you could casually refer to it as "half a dozen." That's likely twice my readership (since I think it's just you, Anne & Guap). So, knock it off with all your self-deprecation and congratulations ... DOCTOR Kwyjibo.

P.S. I'm listing you on my blogroll. As a graduation present. Sorry it's not wrapped.

  5. Thank you all for the kind words!

I am not a doctor--far from it, in fact. I have a BS in English, and it only took me a half dozen years (that's with no rounding). I might mention that I also have three Associate's degrees, but I never thought they really count. I hope to be a real writer someday, and maybe to teach. Mostly, I just wanted to be a college graduate, since I already have a good career with the Air Force.

It's very nice to know that you all pay attention to what I'm doing. You're a GREAT bunch of friends! Stay tuned for more updates soon.

P.S. Can anyone suggest a better title for this blog? The one I picked seemed like a good idea at the time, because it reflects something I believe in. It's too dang long, though. I need 3 or 4 syllables, and I've got 10. Thinking about changing that, and looking for ideas.

  6. Oooooo.... I always like this game!
    Alrightie... How about:
The Quirky Quotient (lovin' the alliteration)
    or
Confronting Canons ('cause I like the double entendre)

I'll keep thinking. Maybe my zaniness will prompt your brain to go, "Oooohhhhh!!! I've got it!"

  7. Nothing that clicks with me yet, theflameinside, but please keep it up! If we can get a little online brainstorming session going, I'm sure we'll come up with a good name.

  8. All right, I'll keep posting as I think of them.

    What about:
    Dancing on Ice
    Running with Scissors (trite...I know)
Naked Opinions (I was gonna go with "thoughts" but that starts to creep into porno zone)
    Red Flag Warning
    Juicing the Brain

    Anything? Bueller....Bueller.......

  9. BRiaNBRaiN
    BlahBlah
    Bozolicious (nothing implied there)
    The Doctor Is In
Fixed Before It Broke (I kind of like that one, from "If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Too long an explanation?)
    BOOGABOOGABOOGA

    k, I'll stop (for) now.

  10. I like "Fixed Before it broke". Good job!

  11. Congratulations! We're both english majors now (although, you probably wouldn't know that from reading my blog haha)! Hopefully you were able to celebrate. :)

  12. I've been celebrating for a week, Mads. Actually, I CAN tell you know something about writing in English. That's one reason I like La Petite Pancake.

Flame and Guap. This is exactly what I was looking for, a brainstorm. Soon, I'm either going to pick a new title or commit to stay with my current, too-long one forever. (Hopefully a new one, though.)
